Edwin Hui Wins the Allado Cup

Resorts World Manila Resorts World Manila

The PHP1 Million Guaranteed 2nd Allado Cup took place over the weekend at Resorts World Manila (RWM) and, out of the 206 entrants, it was Edwin Pak Shun Hui who rose victorious to claim the championship trophy and first prize winnings of PHP 214,500.

According to Hui’s Facebook account, he experienced some massive swings throughout the entire tournament. At one point he was way up with 20 percent of the chips in play in his arsenal, but when his Pocket Queens and Pocket Jacks both ran into Pocket Kings, he suffered big losses that brought him down on the totem pole.

After making his way into the final table, he eventually eliminated Yoo Yong Hyun in 3rd place to regain the chip lead and go head to head with Benjamin Lim. In the end, his Q-4 offsuit call on Lim’s 8-6 offsuit shove held up for the big win.

Out of the many notables who played in the tournament, only a few landed in the money. Kent Del Rosario came in 9th place, earning himself PHP 13,400, and Martin Corpuz notched up a 16th place finish for PHP 8,000.

Among those not so lucky were tournament host Jojo Allado, 2012 APT Asian Series Cebu Main Event runner-up Samad Razavi, Jay Tolon and Michael De Leon.

In addition to the prize money, Hui, Lim and Hyun each received a seat to the Asian Poker Tour Philippines Main Event to be held at Resorts World Manila (RWM) from April 19-25. The 2nd Allado Cup was the first of many APT satellite tournaments to come to RWM. Daily satellites are now running and for as low as PHP 500, players can win their way to a seat worth USD$2700.

There are a variety of satellites to choose from:

1. PHP 500 Mega Satellites to 500k Guaranteed Satellites Series
2. PHP 500K Guaranteed Satellites Series
3. PHP 1,000 Satellite to the 1M Series Finale
4. PHP 1M Guaranteed RWM Satellite Series Finale
