There has been much speculation and gossip within the poker community over the last few months regarding the arrival of a new Super High Roller poker tournament in the Philippines. Now Poker Portal Asia can bring you the official word on what will be the largest buy-in tournament ever seen in Asia.

It will feature some of the biggest names in poker – try Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan on for starters with more to be announced soon – and will be played during APT Philippines on April 20 at Resorts World Manila’s luxurious Genting Club.

But rather than carrying on too much, we will let the following press release, which was issued exclusively to Poker Portal Asia, do the talking:

Resorts World and APT to Present ‘Manila Millions’ – Asia’s Biggest Ever High Roller Tournament – Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan Already Confirmed

April 10, 2012 – The Asian Poker Tour has announced the creation of a new ‘Manila Millions’ super high roller poker tournament to be held during APT Philippines at Resorts World Manila on Friday April 20, 2012. Presented jointly by APT and Resorts World Manila, the Manila Millions will feature a HKD $1 million (USD $129,000) buy-in, which will make it the largest buy-in tournament ever witnessed in Asia.

The prestigious event is set to take place amidst the luxurious surroundings of Resorts World Manila’s Genting Club. Early expectations are there will be around 25-30 players parting with the HKD $1 million buy-in for the Manila Millions and a number of top professionals have already confirmed their attendance. These include Phil Ivey and Tom “durrrr” Dwan, along with other big names to be announced soon.

Making the announcement Mr Hakan Dagtas VP of Casino Operations, Resorts World Manila (RWM) said that Resorts World and Genting Group were fully committed to the development and growth of poker in Asia. “The Manila Millions which will form an integral part of our Genting Poker League is just the first of many poker initiatives we have planned,” he said. RWM, which in less than three years has grown to become one of the busiest poker rooms in the region, is now offering players some of the best cash and tournament poker action to be found anywhere.

“We have the perfect combination for growth – particularly in the Philippines – a fast developing poker scene that can also offer players some of the very best internationally recognised beaches, resorts and recreational activities all within easy commute,” added Mr Dagtas.

“The Asian Poker Tour and Resorts World Manila are going to make poker history once again and this time it’s by staging Asia’s biggest super high roller event. A buy-in of this magnitude will put the Philippines on the world poker map and the APT is excited to once again be working with Resorts World Manila to make it all possible,” said Jeff Mann, CEO of the Asian Poker Tour.

APT Philippines runs from April 19-25, 2012 and will be headlined by the USD $2700 buy-in Main Event. For more information about the APT main event or Manila Millions Poker Tournament you can visit: www.TheAsianPokerTour.com  or www.rwmanila.com
