Alner Sent Packing by Tran Trap

Tom AlnerTom Alner

After trying to pick his spots for chip ups, Tom Alner has shoved at the wrong time and is busted out of the tournament in 7th place for PHP 357,000.

In fairness, however, there was not much else he could do in this hand. After a raise from Vic De Guzman to 62,000 in the hijack, Linh Tran just smooth called with A A. This also invited in Sunny Jung from the button and then Alner looks down at A K in the big blind and has little choice but to ship his dwindling stack of 246,000.

De Guzman gets out of the way and again Tran just calls but Jung isn’t willing to come along for the ride and we head to the showdown when Alner sees the bad news.

The flop delivers 7 7 2 and Alner is needing running spades. A K on the turn gives him just two outs to another King but it doesn’t come on the 4 river and we’re down to six-handed.
