Euryd Rivera

With several players coming into today’s play as short stacks it was just a matter of time until we had our first casualty of the day. Barely had the word’s ‘shuffle up and deal’ left tournament director Danny McDonagh’s mouth then the players were going at it with reckless abandon.

First blood has gone to Australia’s Will Jones, who popped it up to 1,800 to go from the hi-jack only to see the Philippines Euryd Rivera move all-in over the top for 12,975. Jones, holding A Q makes the call to put Rivera, holding J K at risk for his tournament life.

It’s over just as quickly as it began, with Rivera left drawing to runner, runner after Jones hits trips on the flop when the board runs out Q 5 Q 7 2.
Rivera heads to the rail while Jones pads out his chip stack to pass the 55,000 mark.
