US pro Adam Junglen has announced he will be retiring from poker at the ripe old age of 24. Junglen delivered the news via his blog after what he expressed as a “disappointing” run at this year’s World Series of Poker.
Junglen stated, “It’s completely normal to be burnt out from the tourney grind after the WS [World Series], but this year I’ve slowly noticed the enjoyment level just isn’t quite as high as it used to be. My backer and friend for over 5 years now, Daniel Negreanu, had noticed and we agreed it’d be in my best interest to take an extended break from poker.”
First introduced to poker at age 15, Junglen would later have some impressive online results in 2007 that included winning a PokerStars Sunday Million for over USD $198,000. His biggest live tournament cash also came in 2007 during the EPT Barcelona Open where he finished in 6th place for €196,500 (USD $268,622).
Junglen says in his blog he doesn’t have any regrets from his time playing poker but isn’t quite sure what to do with his life now. He also took to Twitter afterwards, saying: “Thanks everyone for all the support while I attempt to discover balance in this life. Let the twitter break and real life begin!”
