Brian Hastings 
For anyone that follows online poker, the name of Brian “$tinger 88” Hastings should ring a few bells. He loves to crush high-stakes heads up PLO and many will remember him from controversially winning over USD $4.1 million from Viktor “Isildur1” Blom in a single online session in 2009.
Now Hastings has achieved the highest honour in his live tournament career by taking out the USD $10,000 buy-in WSOP Heads-Up No-Limit Hold’em World Championship at the Rio in Las Vegas yesterday. The 23-year-old collected the gold bracelet and USD $371,498 for the win from a 152-player field after defeating his opponents in eight straight heads up matches.
His run culminated in a face-off with Jason Mo that proved to be somewhat one-sided. The final hand saw Hastings push from the button holding A♥ 4♥, Mo call with Q♦ 9♠ and the dealer table A♠ J♠ 8♣ Q♣ 7♣ to give Hastings the victory. Mo picked up USD $229,722 for his second place.
