Phil Helmuth Blogs on 12th WSOP Bracelet Win

Phil HellmuthPhil Hellmuth

The big news coming out of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) this week was most definitely Phil Helmuth’s win in the USD $2,500 buy-in Seven-Card Razz event. It marks a record 12 bracelets for Hellmuth, putting him two bracelets clear of other poker legends Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan who each have 10 bracelets. It was also Hellmuth’s first taste of WSOP victory in a non-hold’em event.

After the win had sunk in, Hellmuth gave his fans a few words in a blog, saying, “It was a close match, especially in the latter half, but in the end I walked away with my 12th World Series of Poker individual event championship bracelet! I’m thrilled to extend my record of most career bracelets, and would like to thank all the players for a solid game.”

The victory gave Hellmuth USD $182,793 in prize money but far more important was the honour of winning WSOP gold after five years to the day since he won his last one. This is especially true after 2011’s WSOP in Las Vegas when Hellmuth came achingly close to finish runner-up in three events.
