From 16 of some of the world’s best-known poker players, Scott Seiver has emerged victorious in the PartyPoker Premier League V on Tuesday to pocket USD $500,000. Hosted at Montesino Casino in Vienna, Austria, the event featured a USD $1.4 million prize pool and was played out over a number of rounds during the last week.

When the remaining eight players reached the final table their chip stacks were determined by how many points they had earned in the previous rounds. Here’s how they looked:

Mathew Frankland – 400,000
Daniel Cates – 380,000
Sam Trickett – 330,000
Patrik Antonius – 320,000
Tony G – 300,000
Scott Seiver – 300,000
Phil Laak – 290,000
Tom Dwan – 80,000

Seiver wasn’t too far off chip leader Mathew Frankland and, despite only eliminating one player in the form of short stack Tom Dwan in sixth place, he carried on to the heads up match with Daniel Cates to be almost even in stack sizes. But soon Seiver had a 2:1 chip advantage over Cates and the final hand came when the two players got all their money in preflop with Seiver’s K Q needing to catch against Cates’ Pocket Sevens. When the board ran 10 10 4 3 it was looking like Cates would be taking a commanding position in the match but the K hit the river to pair up Seiver and give him the title.

Final Payouts:

1st Scott Seiver USD $500,000
2nd Daniel Cates USD $300,000
3rd Phil Laak USD $175,000
4th Patrik Antonius USD $125,000
5th Tony G USD $100,000
6th Tom Dwan USD $80,000
7th Mathew Frankland USD $65,000
8th Sam Trickett USD $55,000
