Odds – The ratio of the probability of making a hand vs. that of not making a hand
Odds Against – The ratio of the negative outcomes as compared with the positive ones
Odds For – The ratio of the positive outcomes as compared with the negative ones
Office Hours – A 9 and a 5 in the pocket, suited or offsuit
Offsuit – Cards of different suit
Oldsmobile – A 9 and an 8 in the pocket
Omaha – A poker variation wherein players receive four downcards and five face-up cards shared by all of the players at a table
On a Draw – To maintain a stake in the pot, with hopes of completing a specific hand using the cards that are yet to be dealt
On a Run – To be dealt a series of good hands; synonymous with “On a Rush”
On a Rush – To be dealt a series of good hands; synonymous with “On a Run”
On the Button – To be seated in the dealer’s position
On the Come – A players with an incomplete or a drawing hand
On Tilt – An emotionally upset player who, due to frustration, tends to make wrong gaming decisions
One-ended Straight Draw – Four cards forming a Straight with the missing card being either that with the highest or the lowest rank in that particular hand
One-eyed Jacks – The Jack of Spades and the Jack of Hearts
One-eyed King – The King of Diamonds
Open – To make the first bet
Open Card - An exposed or face up card — that which all of the players are allowed to see
Open Game - A game where anyone can participate
Open Pair - An exposed pair — that dealt face up
Open Seat - A seat available for other players
Opener – The player who made the first bet in a particular round
Opener Button - An object (usually a plastic disk) used to indicate who among the players made the first bet
Openers - Applicable in jacks-or-better draw: any hand that meets the minimum requirement to make the fist bet in the first round of a game
Option - That choice for a player in the live blind position to make a pre-flop raise when the other players chose to merely check a bet
Orbit - One rotation around a table
Out of the Money - A player who got a tournament position without a winning prize
Outdraw - When a player beats his/her opponent by drawing a better hand; synonymous with “Outrun”
Outkick – To win a pot due to a kicker that is higher than what is held by an opponent with an otherwise equal hand
Outrun - When a player beats his/her opponent by drawing a better hand; synonymous with “Outdraw”
Outs - The number of cards left in a deck that would improve a player’s hand
Over and Out - The pocket cards 10-4, suited or offsuit
Over the Top - (1) When a player re-raises an opponent’s raise; (2) In no limit games: throwing all of one’s bankroll in after his opponent raises
Overbet – To make a bet, raise, or re-raise that is relatively large compared to the amount already in the pot
Overcall – To match all previous bets without raising
Overcard – A pocket card that is higher than any of the cards on the board
Overpair – A pair in the pocket that is higher than any of the cards on the board
